We had all our animals treated there for years and were always satisfied. We switched when he (after he had already given her vaccinations) asked why we were there. Now the time had come for us to have our dog put down. So we called him, unfortunately after hours. He had also put down our Labrador at home. I called, and I haven't experienced such rudeness and lack of empathy in a long time. He told us we should bring her to his practice. After I mentioned that this wasn't possible because of two small children in bed, etc., he became very abusive and rude. I can understand wanting to go home for the day, but then you say something and don't bombard someone who is about to have their dog put down with accusations. It seems like he's already retired. Absolutely the worst!
For us, Dr. Niedringhaus is the best veterinarian we've ever had! He has helped my Icelandic horse with colic so many times. We feel very well cared for by him and hope he can continue practicing for many years to come.
I thought long and hard about whether and how to write this. But I think other pet owners should be warned! Our cat started with symptoms like coughing and gasping for breath. So we went to Dr. Niedringhaus to have it checked out. He said she had bronchitis after listening to her heart and taking her temperature, which was then only cleaned with plain water. He then gave her an injection of antibiotics and cortisone. After a few days, we were back at the practice because she wasn't getting any better. He didn't do anything different than what he'd done before. On the way home, I already had a bad feeling because he didn't examine her any further. I didn't want to doubt him and thought he knew what he was doing. We went there a third time, and we left the practice in the same situation again! On the fourth and final visit, we had to tell him what he should do. He took a blood sample, which, in my opinion, was completely brutal and unprofessional. My cat was handled far too roughly, even though she's incredibly petite! Out of sheer fear, she soiled herself… when he drew blood, it dripped all over the examination table, and the blood was transferred sloppily into the IV lines. Since the whole thing seemed suspicious to me, I absolutely wanted to get a second opinion, which I did. In the end, it turned out that she had metastases in her lungs and around her heart, all revealed by a simple X-ray! Of course, it was already too late, and she had to cross the Rainbow Bridge… If he had thought to do an X-ray or an ultrasound, we could have spared my poor cat weeks of suffering! Therefore, I cannot recommend him, what a shame!
I took my dog to this vet three times and each time was sent home with a diagnosis of "cystitis" and antibiotics. After seeing a different vet, my dog had emergency surgery because her uterus was inflamed and had to be removed. She also had inflamed paws, several hot spots on her body, and itching, etc. They prescribed a custom-mixed ointment, saying it was a "yeast infection." When I voiced my suspicion, he denied it. At the other vet, I didn't even have to voice my suspicion because he immediately saw that my dog was suffering from Malassezia, and he was able to treat her accordingly. Even during the injections, she screamed in panic and tensed up due to his improper handling and his "I don't want to" attitude.
An incredibly great and competent vet. I'm truly impressed. The team is also fantastic and super friendly. You can tell that the vet truly cares about the animals. It's also incredibly affordable, as the animal is the focus. I have five dogs and have taken all of them to this practice from the very beginning. I can go there anytime if something happens and reach someone at any time. The vet has always been there, even in emergencies. Simply a fantastic vet and a truly fantastic team. I've always been extremely satisfied and impressed.
