Since I can no longer edit my previous review, here's the correction: Yesterday, a chicken screamed in the garden. As I ran outside, I saw a crow fly away. The chicken had torn out feathers, but I couldn't find any injuries. As of today, I haven't allowed the chickens into the garden. The badly injured chicken is still alive and was certainly injured by the crow as well.

Thank you, Kathrin, for your help and fantastic advice. I won't use any other veterinarian for my horse again. She handled the horse calmly and with great care. She was sensitive and absolutely accurate. If there were 10 stars, I would give it 10.

Late one evening, I noticed that a chicken was missing from the chicken coop. While searching the garden, I found a trail of feathers ending directly in front of my garbage can, where they were very numerous. Horrified, I discovered that the hen was still alive and had squeezed herself under the garbage can. There was a huge flesh wound on the right side of her back. At that time, my veterinary practice was closed and unreachable. The animal emergency service told me to drive to Switzerland or two veterinary clinics further away, about 60 km away. It's impossible to bring a chicken to Switzerland from Germany; otherwise, I'd be committing a crime. In desperation, I called the large animal veterinarian, who was in the middle of an emergency operation. Since she lived in the same village as me, she called me after 10 p.m., and I was able to take the severely injured chicken to her. I was given a spray and told that it might survive. It's now in a guinea pig cage in the house. I am infinitely grateful to her. Unfortunately, the chicken is trying to peck at the wound. It has already removed a temporary protection. I've now ordered two chicken saddles online, which are actually intended to protect against too many kicks from a rooster. Because then the bare skin is visible. In short: a savior in dire need. Thank you so much. The cause was probably a bird of prey, because my chickens are allowed to roam freely in the garden. However, there is also a covered shelter next to the chicken coop.
