Reviews
Today I want to give a huge compliment to veterinarian Dr. Lehmann, who works at the practice and has been providing us with incredibly empathetic and kind care, along with extensive expertise, during our appointments for some time now. We have an anxious dog, and she has an amazing way of connecting with her. A few weeks ago, due to our second home, we had to visit another veterinary practice in Rhineland-Palatinate because of a problem. The vet there said the problem could only be treated with surgery under general anesthesia. We knew we absolutely wanted to get a second opinion from "our" veterinary practice, Extertalbahn. Dr. Lehmann was able to help us quickly and easily; surgery wasn't necessary! We are so grateful that our Maltese can see such an incredibly kind and competent veterinarian. The entire team at the practice is also always very friendly and kind. The practice is very well-equipped and modern. We feel very well cared for and have complete confidence in them.
We've been bringing our dog here for years and have always been very satisfied. Whether it's physiotherapy, surgeries, or check-ups, the staff and veterinarians are incredibly friendly and accommodating. They place great importance on not causing the animal unnecessary suffering or ordering unnecessary tests just to generate revenue. I feel truly well cared for, and our dog is always happy when we go. A huge thank you to the entire team!
I'm going to give my honest opinion now, without emotion, as far as possible. First off, the staff, facilities, and services are great, but I still have a few points of criticism. My cat had dental surgery there; she was a bit older. The surgery went perfectly… But then she developed a bloated stomach. An X-ray was taken, and only gas was found in her abdomen. Because her blood work was good (before the surgery), no blood was drawn, probably because she was struggling too much. Medication and painkillers were prescribed, but nothing helped with the bloating. I then went back about four or five times, paying each time. They prescribed new medications, then the old ones again, then stopped everything, but nothing changed regarding the diarrhea and the hard stomach. She died a few days ago, and I don't know what caused it. Whether she could have been saved is another matter; it's purely about my conscience because you never know. . , . ... The reason I'm writing this mediocre review is because more could have been done, like an ultrasound which most likely would have detected the problem. Now I'm sitting here with unanswered questions and guilt: Should I have brought it up myself? (Ultrasound) Could her life have been saved? Could her suffering have been ended? And many more questions. All I can say is I'm devastated and feel like they took everything lightly just because she was still eating, drinking, and defecating. Forgot to mention: Even though the practice doesn't perform ultrasounds, they could have suggested it. She was clearly in pain; she was regularly biting her fur on her belly and at the base of her tail. I communicated everything because I was watching over her 24/7. And all of this happened within a four-week period, so there was more than enough time for an ultrasound. Even though I'm not a doctor, I suspect she had some kind of intestinal inflammation that could have been detected with another blood test or an ultrasound. And even if it was something else entirely, an ultrasound could have revealed so much that's not visible on an X-ray. And again, perhaps she couldn't have been saved, but I'll never know.
My dog's absolute favorite veterinary practice. An outstanding team, incredibly kind and empathetic. It's practically a pampering practice for animals. Appointments are available quickly. You can also purchase beautiful, handcrafted leashes and collars here. There's no other place, except home, where our dog can't wait to run in, wagging his tail happily. Thank you to the wonderful team!
