Sadly, we had to let our little Maltese mix, Leo, go just four days after a routine surgery at only 13 months old. He was a cheerful little guy who had his whole life ahead of him. It was tragic and avoidable, according to another vet. On Thursday at noon, we received Leo from Ms. Gottwald, who told us: "He's having trouble coming out of the anesthesia. But he's probably in better hands with you." We were overwhelmed at home. Leo was showing signs of neurological deficits. I don't want to go into all the details until Monday. We went back to her late Thursday afternoon and again on Friday morning. He apparently needs a little longer (24 hours after the anesthesia!!!!). Friends advised us to get a second opinion. We went to another practice. Diagnosis: Ketamine hangover. The vet said it was quite severe. We also went to the practice on Saturday and Sunday for emergency appointments. Contrary to what she said on Friday, Ms. Gottwald was unavailable over the weekend. Ultimately, in addition to his neurological deficits on Sunday evening and Monday morning, he also suffered epileptic seizures, which we, as laypeople, didn't recognize as such. Intensive care treatment was unsuccessful and probably too late, so we had to let him go on Monday afternoon. He had suffered enough, and little Leo hadn't understood his world since Thursday noon anyway. I don't even want to talk about our emotional state. Hellish days, primarily for Leo. ASK about the anesthesia options and risks before you have your pet operated on there. We weren't given any personal information or advice beforehand. My wife was handed a piece of paper to sign—the consent form for the anesthesia. None of our animals will ever set foot in that clinic again. We've also heard negative reports from several people. I hope you or your beloved pet don't have to go through something like that. Leo paid the highest price, one that can't be expressed in euros.
Super friendly and very good with all kinds of dogs. Generally, everyone there is very competent and knows what they're doing. The practice is very pleasant for both animal and owner. Treatment prices are also reasonable. Highly recommended.
A highly competent veterinary practice. The veterinarian impresses with her high level of expertise and sensitivity. The receptionist is also always professional and friendly. The prices are absolutely fair, and they even offer to contact you by phone if anything is unclear. Thank you so much for recognizing the urgency, treating our cat quickly, and restoring his health.
Dear Dr. Gottwald and team... Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my Fly. Thank you for supporting us so much over the past few months, for your honesty, and for explaining everything so thoroughly and sensitively yesterday. We felt incredibly well cared for by you. Not only did you explain everything so clearly, but you were always there for us with advice and honesty. And the way you handle the animals... so calm and loving. Even though the decision was so difficult yesterday... thank you for being there for us. I will recommend you to everyone. Again and again. You are the best veterinarian for us. Best regards, and please stay just the way you are.
We had to take our dog Hanno to Ms. Gottwald for an emergency appointment on a Saturday, and...it was great! She was competent, kind, and cared for the animal. As the owner, I also felt heard, so we stayed with the same vet for the entire treatment period. The result of the bite injury is good, and Hanno was happy to go to the vet. Based on this positive experience, I will continue to use her services in Hagen and will gladly continue to travel to her practice. Karla Bischof, GMHÜTTE
