Today (Saturday!), after my dog had another terrible night and was in agony, I went to the vet without an appointment, knowing I'd have to wait. The staff were so dismissive that I'm seriously considering whether I'll ever go back. I'm very impressed with the vets, Dr. Fluck and Dr. Sanft, but the behavior of the assistants was appalling. I stayed for my dog's sake—Dr. Sanft was great, and I hope it helps—but I was very annoyed by the way the assistants treated me, accusing me of trying to avoid the emergency vet bills. Of course, I'd much rather go to someone who knows my dog's medical history!
We went there for the first time in December with our cat. I can highly recommend the vet. I wasn't pressured into anything unnecessary, and she's incredibly kind to the animals.
This practice advertises "compassionate veterinary medicine." Our experience was the exact opposite. Our dog had two severe seizures within a few hours, along with vomiting, lethargy, and a complete refusal to eat. We were terrified of another, potentially life-threatening seizure—it was clearly an acute emergency. Despite this, we were rudely turned away over the phone because we didn't have an appointment. We were told that regardless of the urgency, they wouldn't see us and that we should "go somewhere else." Our indications of the emergency were ignored. The attitude was essentially: No means no. This is neither empathy nor responsibility when dealing with a living, potentially life-threatening animal. Compassionate veterinary medicine looks very different. Not recommended.
