Reviews
We've been taking our pets to Dr. Weber for years and are very happy with his work. He was incredibly empathetic when we lost our first dog and provided us with excellent support. His colleague, who is easy to talk to, and all the staff are also incredibly kind! Thank you so much.
In the weeks leading up to December 4, 2025, I had taken my cat to the Ottenbeck Small Animal Clinic for treatment several times. I paid the resulting bills, totaling several hundred euros, in full and on time. On December 4, 2025, I brought him back because he hadn't eaten or drunk anything for two days and appeared significantly weakened. His medical record, which I have, documents, among other things: a reduced general condition, continued refusal to eat, labored breathing, respiratory noises during exhalation, an indication of an incipient pleural effusion, and an existing cardiac issue. He was prescribed medications including Cardalis, Furotab, and Mirataz. The documentation does not mention any IV fluids or inpatient stabilization. On December 5, 2025, his condition deteriorated further. He vomited repeatedly, was severely weak, and was no longer able to stand on his own. I perceived his condition as extremely critical and was very worried about his life. In the morning, I contacted the veterinary practice by phone and requested a follow-up examination as soon as possible. Since I had reached my financial limit in December, I asked for a payment deferral until January—not an installment plan, just a postponement until January. According to the documented statement I have from a veterinary assistant, no emergency was identified. However, the same statement indicates that my cat was assessed as having "circulatory instability" and that an IV infusion alone would not suffice. The document further states that treatment could only proceed with immediate payment of the bill. I was given the following options: appearing in person with immediate payment, contacting external veterinary clinics, or consulting the veterinary office. I pointed out that I do not have a car and cannot easily reach the mentioned clinics. The veterinary assistant's statement also includes the exact words: "How she gets there is not our problem." As recommended, I contacted the veterinary office by phone on December 5, 2025. Initially, I was told they didn't know why the practice had given me this advice and couldn't offer any further assistance. I was then transferred to another staff member. This staff member was very friendly and explained that my cat urgently needed fluids after two days without food or water. She recommended giving him fluids if possible, even spoonfuls if necessary. I explained that he vomited even after drinking water. I was then informed over the phone that in such a situation, an injection to reduce nausea and an IV infusion to replenish fluids might be necessary. I subsequently relayed this information back to the practice by phone. My cat was not examined or treated further at this practice on December 5, 2025. Later, my cat lost consciousness. I witnessed him dying at this point. I felt completely abandoned by this veterinary practice. My cat died the following night. Here I present the documented findings from the patient file, the contents of the veterinary assistant's affidavit, and describe my personal account of the events. No final medical evaluation of the course of events was conducted.
